Anyone following my social media will doubtless have spotted that my further adventures are now underway. Having relocated to the Cairngorms in November 2020, and been mostly confined to that area during travel restrictions and lockdowns, since August I have once again been roaming free.
The broad plan is to explore Scotlands Highlands, Islands and inland roads, and all the staggering scenery that comes with that. I am taking my time for many reasons. Firstly, I have been flat broke for some considerable time! My last permanent, full time position came to an end in September 2020, since when I have been improvising and not doing as well as I would have liked. I continued to support former students as a private tutor, and I advanced my photography to selling (or not) canvas prints. I have a couple of irons in the fire, but mostly I have been sending out dozens of job applications, and receiving back dozens of rejections. Hence, progress on the journey is slow because I do not currently have the funds for more. Andanotherthing, is that I need to be based in one spot so I can focus on my work projects to get them launched. Secondly, I don't want to miss anything. Thirdly, as much as I enjoy driving Doris the Defender, I have no intention of putting in big daily distances. Well, at least not until I have converted her to electric and I have bigger spaces to roam.
After Scotland I will head to England, around Europe (hopefully Iceland too), then onwards to India and Asia, back and down to South Africa, and later over to the Americas. Seems like a fair plan.
